After ceasing operations at the end of April, WNPV Inc. is selling the 13.41 acre site that housed the studios of News/Talk 1440 WNPV/98.5 W253CA Lansdale PA and six towers to North Penn School District for $2.3 million.
The Lansdale Reporter states that the school district, whose North Penn High School adjoins the WNPV property, will use the land for future expansion.
INSTANT INSIGHT: WNPV has joined the fast growing list of AM stations whose land value for non-broadcast usage has exceeded the value of the broadcast facility. There’s still potential for someone to acquire the licenses and begin to find locations for WNPV and W253CA to relocate to in the next nine months, but with high land values in the northern Philadelphia suburbs where WNPV was located, that may be tricky.
