The station is positioning as “Lite Rock Favorites” focusing on music from the 60s through 90s with core artists listed as Billy Joel, Phil Collins, Whitney Houston, Jim Croce, The Beatles, Madonna, Paula Abdul, Elton John, Michael Bolton, and Sting. The format and branding match that of Iris Media’s “98.3 The Dove” KDVC Columbia MO, which has some connections to Zimmer. The KTXR call letters move from their legacy home on 101.3 to tie in some connection with that frequency’s former Beautiful Music and Soft AC “Gentle Giant” identity.
“98.7 The Dove” will be anchored in mornings by longtime Springfield morning hosts Kevin Howard and Liz Delany starting Monday, August 17. “Kevin and Liz” anchored mornings on iHeartMedia Hot AC “Alice 95.5” KTOZ from 2003-2014 before moving to AC 105.9 KGBX until being let go as part of the company’s January layoffs.
