Nexstar News/Talk 720 WGN Chicago on Friday evening announced it is revamping its afternoon and evening programming.
WGN has cut ties with afternoon host Roe Conn and evening host Nick Diglio. Conn had hosted afternoons at WGN since January 2015. He previously spent 25 years at 890 WLS. Diglio has been with WGN in various roles since 1985 first as a movie critic and later weekend host before moving to overnights in 2013. He had been hosting evenings since the exit of Justin Kaufman in March.
On September 28, WGN will launch “Chicago’s Afternoon News” from 4-7pm hosted by Steve Bertrand. Bertrand, who has been with WGN since 1985, will anchor a news focused block in the daypart. With the debut of the news block, 1-3pm host Anna Davlantes’ show will be extended until 4pm.
WGN will also add John ‘Records’ Landecker to host a new evening talk show from 7-10pm. Landecker, best known for his run in nights at 890 WLS from 1972 to 1981 and again from 1986 to 1989, has also worked in the market at 94.7 WLS-FM, 97.9 WLUP, 104.3 WJMK (hosting mornings from 1993-2003), and 105.9 WCKG as well as stations in Cleveland, Philadelphia, Toronto and throughout his native Michigan.
