Urban One’s Radio-One has announced it has begun operating 102.5 WWCD Baltimore/Columbus OH via LMA and has launched Regional Mexican “La Grande 102.5“.
WWCD had been operated as Alternative “CD 102.5” until the LMA with WWCD Limited ended on October 31.
The new format joins Lazo Media’s Spanish CHR “Mega 103.1” WVKO-FM Johnstown targeting the Spanish language audience in Columbus. WWCD becomes Radio One’s fifth FM in the market joining Adult R&B “Magic 95.5” WXMG, Hip Hop “Power 107.5/106.3” WCKX/WBMO and Gospel “Joy 107.1” WJYD.
Urban One Columbus has entered into a Local Marketing Agreement (LMA) to assume operating responsibility for WWCD FM 102.5 from Southern Ohio Broadcasting System. Urban One Columbus will be jumping into the local radio Hispanic market by running the station as La Grande 102.5 FM, effective Friday, November 6th, 2020 at 10:00 am.
The new format will run on-air for 24 hours, seven days-week with Regional Mexican/Tropical content, which will make Urban One Columbus the one-stop-shop for reaching the Hispanic audience in Central Ohio with La Grande and WQMC-TV (Telemundo Columbus). Urban One, a minority- controlled company, acquired the Telemundo Columbus affiliation in January 2020. La Grande 102.5 FM, will be the strongest signal in the market that will allow the entire Latino population to enjoy local content in their first language.
