After ten years as CHR “i107.1” under the operation of first Cumulus Media and later Townsquare Media, the LMA of 107.1 KRQN Vinton/Cedar Rapids IA has come to an end.
KRQN dropped its CHR format at the end of April upon the expiration of the ten year old LMA. The station is now running Conservative Talk programming from USA Radio Networks including “Chosen Generation Radio” with Greg Young from 9am-11am, Todd Starnes from 11am-2pm, and Dan Sileo in evenings.
The CHR format launched on KRQN in 2011 when Cumulus began operating the station. Townsquare assumed the LMA of KRQN as part of its 2013 purchase of 68 stations across thirteen markets from Cumulus.
The CHR battle in Cedar Rapids continues to feature KZIA Inc.’s “Z102.9” KZIA Cedar Rapids, iHeartMedia’s “Hot 95.7” KOSY-FM Anamosa, and Townsquare’s adjacent markets pair of “Q98.5” KKHQ Cedar Falls/Waterloo and “B100” KBEA Muscatine/Quad Cities. While KZIA does not appear in the Nielsen Audio ratings, the other three stations all had identitcal 0.6 shares.
