SummitMedia has appointed Scott Gaines as Operations Manager for their Knoxville cluster and Program Director of Country “100.3 The Wolf” WCYQ.
Gaines joins SummitMedia from Alpha Media Amarillo TX where he has served as Operations Manager since February 2020. Gaines has also served as APD/MD of “Kicks 101.5” WKHX Atlanta, “106.7 The Fox” WDTW-FM Detroit, and Operations Manager for Cumulus Media Killeen TX as well as holding on-air positions at Westwood One, ABC Radio Networks, “Kix 106” WGKX Memphis, “95.5 Nash Icon” WSM-FM Nashville, and AAA “Quality Rock 93.3” KLIF-FM, AC “B97.9” KBFB Country “99.5 The Wolf” KPLX, CHR “Hot 100” KRBV, AC “Mix 102.9” KDMX and AC 103.7 KVIL in Dallas.
Gaines replaces Kevin ‘Gravy’ Canup, who resigned in May to relocate closer to family in Michigan.
SummitMedia has appointed Scott Gaines to manage operations for the company’s Knoxville cluster and serve as Program Director for WCYQ (100.3 The Wolf).
Gaines brings a solid track record of leadership in multi-station, multiformat programming, and management. He has been consistently successful in achieving ratings successes and maximizing market value. This year, he won the 2021 CRS/Country Aircheck award for Operations Manager/Program Director of the year for small market radio.

Gaines radio career dates back 35 years. Most recently as operations manager for Alpha Media, he oversaw the on-air and digital programming for 11 stations in the Amarillo, Texas, cluster. He was also the program director, content director, and afternoon personality for Country KGNC-FM. He’s also had stints with Cumulus Media, Westwood One, and iHeartMedia.

Gaines assumes his new leadership role today. He manages Summit Knoxville stations that include WCYQ, WNOX (Awesome 93.1), WKHT (Hot 104.5), and WWST (Star 102.1).
