After over eleven years programming Cumulus Media CHR 99.5 WZPL Indianapolis, JR Ammons has exited the station to join Audacy Kansas City as Operations Manager of their four music stations and Program Director of Hot AC “99.7 The Point” KZPT and Country “106.5 The Wolf” WDAF-FM.
Ammons joined WZPL as Program Director in November 2010 and added cluster Operations Manager for Entercom Indianapolis from 2012 until it was traded to Cumulus in early 2019. Ammons long tenure in programming includes 11 years as APD/MD of WSTR Atlanta from 1995 to 2006, a brief stint programming CHR “Mix 93.3” KMXV Kansas City followed by tenures as PD at WAPE Jacksonville and back at WSTR before joining WZPL.
Ammons fills the opening created by last year’s second retirement of Mike Kennedy.
Audacy welcomes JR Ammons as Operations Manager of 98.9 The Rock (KQRC-FM), ALT 96.5 (KRBZ-FM), 106.5 The Wolf (WDAF-FM) and 99.7 The Point (KZPT-FM) in Kansas City, effective February 1. Ammons will also serve as Brand Manager of 106.5 The Wolf and 99.7 The Point, overseeing the content strategy, talent, operations and branding for the stations.

A 30-year industry veteran, Ammons joins Audacy after spending the last 11 years as Operations Manager for WZPL-FM, WNTR-FM and WXNT-AM in Indianapolis. He also has prior programming stops at Atlanta sister station Star 94 (WSTR-FM), WAPE-FM in Jacksonville, FL, and KMXV-FM in Kansas City.
