Stanton Nelson’s WPA Radio is selling its two stations in Oklahoma City.
Mark Whitten’s KKNG Radio LLC will acquire 97.3 KKNG-FM Blanchard for $1 million. The station, which rimshots Oklahoma City from the south, currently operates as part of the statewide Catholic “Oklahoma Catholic Radio” network. The station will be the first broadcast asset for Whitten, who owns the Oklahoma City based Commercial Telecom Systems.
Tyler Media will reacquire “Community Talk 890” KTLR Oklahoma City for $113,500. The station currently features a mix of brokered local programming and syndicated Conservative Talk. Tyler will add the station back to its Oklahoma City operations that includes Classic Hits 92.5 KOMA, Alternative “92.9 The Edge” K225BN/KOMA-HD2, Country “93.3 Jake-FM” KJKE, Spanish AC “Exitos 96.5” K243BJ/KRXO-HD3, Classic Hip Hop “V103” K276EX/KOMA-HD3, AC “Magic 104.1” KMGL, Classic Rock “104.5 KRXO” K283BW/KRXO-HD2, Regional Mexican “La Z 106.7” KTUZ-FM, Sports “107.7 The Franchise” KRXO, News/Talk 1520 KOKC/95.3 K237GE, Sports “1560 The Franchise 2” KEBC, and two television stations. Tyler also owns KTLR’s translator 103.7 K279CR Oklahoma City.
Tyler Media had sold both KKNG and KTLR to WPA Radio in 2012 for $1.6 Million to clear the way for its $40 million purchase of KOMA, KMGL, KRXO, and KOKC from Renda Broadcasting. Nelson previously ran Monroe-Stephens Broadcasting with Tyler Media head Ty Tyler.
