Cox Houston Senior Engineer Andy Hudack To Retire

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
August 19, 2022

Andy Hudack Cox Media HoustonCox Media Group Houston has announced that Andy Hudack will retire at the end of the month ending a 47 year radio career.

Hudack has served as Senior Engineer for Cox’s four Houston FMs since 2002. His radio career started in 1975 as a board operator for 93.7 KRLY running American Top 40 and Sunday morning public affairs programs. He moved to 95.7 KIKK-FM in 1981, 99.1 KODA in 1985, and 104.1 KRBE in 1994. He was inducted into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame in 2015.

Cox is seeking an Engineering Manager to succeed Hudack in overseeing their Houston properties.

Cox Media Group (CMG) Houston, One of our favorite people has decided to retire! Please join me in congratulating Texas Radio Hall of Famer, Andy Hudack for this huge next step in his life. Andy has been an amazing team member here at CMG Houston for 16 years.

“Andy has been an amazing team member here at CMG Houston for 16 years and a valuable partner to me as I moved into my role here at CMG. I have only worked with Andy for a short time but I have known him for more than 3 decades and since the beginning of my career when he went out of his way to help me fit into the Engineering community here in Houston. He has again shepherded me into CMG and for that I’ll be forever grateful.” ~ Richard Gerlovich – Director of Engineering

Hudack’s 47-year radio career started when he became a board operator at KRLY-FM/Houston in 1975, running the Sunday Public Affairs show and the American Top 40 Countdown Show with Casey Kasem.

His next stop in 1981 took him to KIKK-FM and then on to KODA-FM in 1985 where he ran the first ever stereo NFL broadcast of the Houston Oilers. In 1994 he joined KRBE-FM. Thirteen years later in 2002, Hudack joined CMG Houston’s stations, including KGLK-FM/KHPT-FM, KKBQ-FM and KTHT-FM, as Senior Engineer.

Andy will be here with us until the end of August.
