July 18, 2023

Wingz 94.3 WGZZ Auburn OpelikaRadioAlabama’s “Auburn Networks” cluster of stations will once again be the home for Auburn University sports under a new deal that runs through the 2027-28 seasons.

Classic Hits “Wings 94.3” WGZZ Waverly will carry football, men’s basketball, and the weekly Tiger Talk show. AC “AU 100” WAUE Waverly will air baseball and women’s basketball, while coaches will be regular guests on “ESPN 106.7” W294AR/WGZZ-HD3.

Auburn University Sports broadcasts were most recently held in Auburn by Tiger Communications’ stations since 2016. RadioAlabama previously held the rights from 2013-2016. Also as part of the deal, Auburn softball broadcasts will move to the university’s student-run 91.1 WEGL Auburn.

Auburn University sports radio broadcasts are returning to the Auburn Networks family beginning this August. The affiliation with the Auburn Sports Network across programming on multiple local radio stations promises an unmatched experience for passionate Auburn sports fans.

Wings 94.3 will air Auburn football games, men’s basketball games, and the weekly Tiger Talk show. Auburn baseball and women’s basketball will air on AU100. The Auburn Sports Network’s broadcast team, along with coaches and administrators from the university athletics department, will also be regular guests on ESPN 106.7.

“We are excited to bring the Auburn Tigers back home as flagship stations in the Auburn-Opelika area,” said Steve Witten, Vice President and Market Manager of Auburn Networks. “We deeply value the passionate Auburn fanbase and are committed to providing unparalleled coverage of Auburn University athletics.”

“The opportunity to rededicate our stations to Auburn University sports further strengthens our commitment to our listeners,” added Lee Perryman, RadioAlabama President and CEO. “We are also proudly affiliating with the Auburn Sports Network on KiX 100.3 in Sylacauga.”

The Auburn Sports Network will kick off on Aug. 24 with Tiger Talk, Auburn Athletics’ popular weekly radio show, on Thursday nights at 6:00 p.m. The first Auburn football broadcast will be on Saturday, Sept. 2.

The Auburn Networks stations will carry the broadcasts through at least the 2027-2028 athletic season. Auburn Networks is also the official radio partner of Auburn High School Athletics and Lee-Scott Academy Athletics.

Operating under the master RadioAlabama brand, Auburn-Opelika stations include Wings 94.3 (WGZZ), NewsTalk WANI 98.7/1400 (WANI/WGZZ-HD2), ESPN 106.7 (WGZZ-HD3), 96.3 WLEE (WGZZ-HD4), AU100 (WAUE), and Tiger Country 104.5 (WAUE-HD2), along with East Alabama Living and East Alabama Weddings magazines. The media family includes WSGN (WSGN), MIX 106.5 (WSGN-HD2), 105.1 WRFS (WRFS), KiX 100.3 (WYEA), KiX 96.3 (WFXO), SylacaugaNews.com, and RadioAlabamaSports.net. Collectively, the stations have won 64 awards for broadcast excellence from the Alabama Broadcasters Association and are home to Alabama’s Radio Station of the Year for 2009, 2016, and 2017.
