Cumulus Media Sports “107.5 The Game” WNKT Eastover/Columbia SC is now being heard in two additional markets.
As we reported last week, Cumulus completed the move of Hot AC “Q100.5” WQPD Marion/Florence SC to 100.1 in order to allow for the launch of “100.5 The Game“. In Myrtle Beach, existing Sports talker “100.3 The Team” WSEA Atlantic Beach has rebranded as “100.3 The Game“.
WQPD will simulcast the local programming from WNKT from 6am-6pm and WSEA will do so from 6am to 12pm. With its focus on University of South Carolina Gamecocks football, the lineup includes “The Early Game with Jennifer Jensen, Bill Gunter and Preston Throne” from 6-9am, hour-long shows from 9am-12pm depending on the day, “Halftime with Jay Philips and Terry Ford” from 12-3pm, and “Game Time” from 3-6pm. Afternoon host Heath Cline exited WNKT last week after sixteen years after being unable to come to terms on a new contract.
Cumulus Media (NASDAQ: CMLS) announces that it has launched The Game Sports Radio Network today across three South Carolina markets, expanding the reach of its premium live and local Sports/Talk programming, which includes live coverage of South Carolina Gamecocks games. The new sports radio network originates from Cumulus Columbia’s 107.5 The Game/WNKT-FM, the flagship station of South Carolina Gamecocks games. 107.5 The Game is in its 16th year of providing exciting local Sports/Talk programming, broadcasting Monday through Friday from 6:00am-6:00pm. The new network will provide live and local Sports/Talk coverage to sports fans from Newberry to Myrtle Beach, and all areas in between.
The Game Sports Radio Network includes Cumulus Media’s WWFN-FM in Florence, SC, which now broadcasts as 100.5 The Game, and airs all live, local Sports/Talk shows from Columbia from 6:00am-6:00pm, followed by network programming by CBS Sports Radio. WWFN-FM was previously programmed as a Classic Country station. In addition, Cumulus Myrtle Beach Sports radio station WSEA-FM is now 100.3 The Game, broadcasting the live, local Sports/Talk shows from Columbia from 6:00am-12:00 Noon. WSEA-FM is a CBS Sports Radio affiliate and home of the South Carolina Gamecocks. The station was previously branded as Sports Radio 100.3 The Team.
Tammy O’Dell, Regional Vice President/Market Manager, Cumulus Media, said: “The opportunity to expand Columbia’s live, local sports content to sports fans in Florence and Myrtle Beach opens up new ways to connect listeners to our brands, provide compelling content to new listeners, and offer prime local and regional marketing opportunities for many clients. This is a game-changer!”
Terry Ford, Program Director, WNKT-FM, noted: “107.5 The Game, Columbia, has been keeping the Midlands sports fans informed, engaged, enlightened, entertained, and sometimes enraged for 16 years! Our live and local team of sports specialists interviews coaches, players, and fans, and invites listeners to participate via call, social media, and on-location events. At our core are the teams, coaches, players, and fans of the South Carolina Gamecocks. We are very excited about growing the 107.5 The Game brand into two markets in South Carolina and making our great content available to almost half of the state.”
