Where can I find on my radio dial the
freedom of talk radio? I have listened to
your station only for several years. I do
not listen to any music and will no longer
have 570KVI on my radio dial.
I will be looking for Sean Hannity and the
others on a different station. I listen as
I drive I do not do much on a computer at all. Sorry you have caved in to pressure.

I am very disappointed in the staff there
The program management should be fired
I have been a loyal KVI listener for years
You gave in to the left and now just play
The crap all the other stations are playing
First Kirby Wilber now the station
      You should rethink this
I promise you your format is going to fail
I really wish I was there to assist the fool that made this choice
Your management also lost Rush to KVI a few years ago
Replace the program director no the format

This has nothing to do with politics. It was a business decision. KVI wasn’t making as much money with talk as they believed they can be making with Oldies.

It’s a cheaper format to operate which means more revenue.

      Throughout the nation perhaps.

In Seattle, not quite. These are the 12+ ratings shares for News and Talk stations in Seattle, which tells only part of the story.

      97.3 KIRO 4.0
      94.9 KUOW 3.7
      1000 KOMO 3.7
      770 KTTH 2.4
      570 KVI 1.6
      1090 KPTK 1.4

By being on FM, KIRO and KUOW (and KOMO via 97.7) get younger listeners which in the case of KIRO and KOMO means being more desirable to advertisers. KTTH has the benefit of having Beck and Limbaugh plus having advertising sold in tandem with KIRO as both are owned by Bonneville.

Other than Sean Hannity, who will probably end up on 770 eventually, most of the syndicated hosts on KVI were considered second or third tier.

Why is everyone making such a big deal of this? I’m in my mid twenties and never listened to KVI(except for Coast to Coast on occasion) and I love oldies music.

I think KVI is going to get a great audience for their station and in time this format will be just as popular as the old talk format.

By the way, i’m just a fan of radio in general and I like this move, I don’t work for the station involved or anything like that.

this has been in the works for a while now.I don’t know who is responsible for this decision but heads should role.our country is in deep trouble we need talk radio more now then ever before.
i guess the libs finally got to you.i will not patronize the advertiser on your station and i’ll will let them know it.so good bye you spineless scum

We listened to KVI several hours daily, yesterday while driving to Whidbey I thought my radio was screwed up, then I found out it is you that is screwed up. You’re gone from our dial and we have several friends who feel the same. Seattle is nothing but San Francisco North, I guess we should have expected such.

For those who deplore the format change at KVI, realize this much: When a station can’t get the necessary ratings to keep it afloat, you can be rest assured that the station is going to change its format. With a 1.4 in the latest Arbitron, it’s not surprising that the station has gone in a different direction. I doubt it has anything to do with politics, though! Look at the ratings of the other talkers in Seattle. the only talk station which was faring worse than KVI is KPTK; a ‘progressive’ talker. Besides KTTH seems to be ‘holding its own’, at least for now. Maybe they or KIRO-FM will pick up one or two of the defunct hosts. Now the question remains is what made management at KVI think they could ‘make a go’ at oldies when music on AM seems to be a thing of the past?

You think AM music is the RIGHT format??? Try this format out: Bankruptcy. Eight Ball says outlook good. I’m sure this is the way the last decision was made. Good luck with AM OLDIES where the ONLY people who were listening were people NOT WANTING TO LISTEN to OLDIES. THE ONLY REASON I EVEN SOUGHT OUT and AM channel when I moved here was for Talk Radio. If it’s about ratings, than you’re just putting a Bandaid on a gunshot wound. Good bye.
