Adams Radio Group relaunched Oldies “104.5 Kool-FM” 570 KWML/104.5 K283CG Las Cruces NM as Rhythmic AC “Kool 104.5“.
“The Rhythm of Cruces” debuted at 3:00pm today with the new format developed by Operations Manager Joey Hernandez and “Hot 103.1” KHQT Program Director Jackie Marquez-Wilkinson.
The first hour of the new Kool 104.5 featured:
- Whitney Houston – I Wanna Dance with Somebody
- Outkast feat. Sleepy Brown – The Way You Move
- Michael Jackson – Beat It
- Backstreet Boys – Everybody
- The Commodores – Easy
- Alicia Keys – Fallin
- Janet Jackson – Escapade
- Lenny Kravitz – I Belong to You
- Earth Wind & Fire – Let’s Groove
- Beyonce – Irreplaceable
- Madonna – Into The Groove
- Christina Aguilera – Genie In A Bottle
- Smokey Robinson – Cruisin
- Shaggy – It Wasn’t Me

Definitely has its own unique component, but definitely also reminds me of the wave in Los Angeles. It’s a great idea and I think it’s cool that they’re going with a mass appeal version of the rhythmic AC format. people often wonder when classic hits is going to move into the 90s, but honestly if we actually look at the demographic timeline, these sorts of formats are the actual generational classic hits formats these days.
I’m liking the first hour too and would love an in-depth review at some point.
