As expected, SummitMedia has officially rolled out an AC format on “Star 99.5” W258CB Greenville/WJMZ-HD3 Anderson SC.
The translator had dropped its Hip Hop “Streetz 99.5” identity in late November for Christmas music duplicating the logo and branding of sister AC “Star 104.5” KSRZ Omaha. The move returns the format to Greenville for the first time since Audacy’s mandated divestiture of “Magic 106.3” WSPA-FM and flip to Regional Mexican “La Raza 106.3” on April 1.
One piece of Magic has migrated to Star as the station has added Murphy, Sam & Jodi for mornings. That show had been heard on WSPA-FM until its flip.
Original Report 11/29: SummitMedia has flipped Hip Hop “Streetz 99.5” W258CB Greenville/WJMZ-HD3 Anderson SC to Christmas music as “Star 99.5“.
The brand duplicates the logo and branding of co-owned AC “Star 104.5” KSRZ Omaha NE giving a clear indication where the station is likely going after the holidays. The Greenville/Spartanburg market has been without an Adult Contemporary station since Audacy’s mandated divestiture of “Magic 106.3” WSPA-FM and flip to Regional Mexican “La Raza 106.3” on April 1.
W258CB had flipped from 1980s Hits “Awesome 99.5” to Hip Hop in April 2023 making it the second Hip Hop brand in the cluster along with Rhythmic CHR “Hot 98.1” WHZT. The brand had a 0.6 share in the October 2024 Nielsen Audio ratings behind WHZT’s 3.8 share and Audacy’s “The Block 96.3/104.5/107.7” WFBC-HD2’s 1.3 share.
W258CB becomes the only secular all-Christmas station in the Greenville/Spartanburg market joining Radio Training Network’s Christian AC “His Radio” 89.3 WLFJ-FM.
