After fifteen years in South Bend, programmer turned General Manager and VP of Content Bill Gamble’s positiosn at Mid-West Family Broadcasting has been eliminated.
Gamble shared, “News that is all too common, and not limited to radio…. My position as VP of Content for Mid-West Family South Bend has been eliminated. I’ve been with Mid-West Family since they purchased the stations in 2016. I want to thank them for the many opportunities they’ve given me, from VP programming to General Manager for the cluster. I’ve had the chance to work with some very talented, great people. I’m proud of the team we’ve assembled, and I know that they’ll continue to thrive and succeed for Mid-West Family. And just to cut off any rumors before they start: I’m not retiring. Anyone who knows me knows I have just about zero hobbies. I intend to keep working because I love what I do (and I’m great at it).”
Gamble joined what was then Schurz Broadcasting South Bend in 2010 as Director of Programming and Content. The cluster would be sold to Mid-West Family in 2015 with Gamble rising to General Manager for the market in 2019. Prior to his run in South Bend, Gamble programmed in multiple larger markets with stints at many stations in Chicago. Gamble was National Program Director for General Cinema Radio’s stations in Chicago, Boston and Philadelphia from 1979-81, Operations Manager of 670 WMAQ from 84-87, Program Director of AC turned Alternative “Q101” WKQX from 1988-97 where he would also add Regional VP/Programming duties for Emmis, PD of ABC Classic Rock “CD 94.7” WXCD turned Alternative “94.7 The Zone” WZZN from 1997 to 2005, and eight months at CBS Radio Country “US 99” WUSN and Hot AC “Fresh 105.9” WCFS in 2009-10. He has also programmed 620 WSUN Tampa, Station Manager for 101.9 WKLR Indianapolis, and spent three years as Operations Manager of CBS Radio turned Wilks Broadcasting Denver from 2006-09.
