After stunting with Christmas music since last Friday, Krieger Media Company has flipped the former Rock “93.1 The Buzz” KMCS Muscatine IA to Adult Hits “MC 93“.
Positioning as “Muscatine’s Choice For Music”, the station is focusing on music from the 1980s through 2000s. The launch creates a local competitor to iHeartMedia AC “Mix 96” KMXG Clinton which is targeting the nearby larger Quad Cities market.
The new brand launched at 10am with Black Eyed Peas “I Got A Feeling”, Santana and Rob Thomas “Smooth”, Sophie B Hawkins “Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover”, Warrant “Cherry Pie”, and Jewel “Hands”.
Connor Kenney, who had departed his role as Brand Manager/midday host at Townsquare Media CHR “B100” KBEA Muscatine/Quad Cities in March for a new position, is serving as Station Manager for KMCS and sister Full Service/Classic Country 860/95.1 KWPC. Kenney had been with Townsquare Quad Cities since 2013 rising to KBEA Brand Manager in 2018.
Original Report 5/18: After closing last month on its $250,000 purchase of Classic Country 860 KWPC/95.1 K236CF and Rock “93.1 The Buzz” KMCS Muscatine IA from JAM Media Solutions’ bankruptcy trustee, Krieger Media Company has begun making changes.
KMCS has dropped its Rock format and is currently stunting with Christmas music. The music is focused on mostly Classic Country artists while teasing a new format is coming soon.
