As Woodward Community Media continues its integration of the former Mid-West Family Broadcasting and Neuhoff Media clusters in Springfield IL it purchased last year, the company has announced a number of programming changes to take place on July 1.
After a decade on 97.7 Petersburg, Rock WQLZ will return to its original home on 92.7 Taylorville. The WQLZ brand launched on 92.7 in 1993 and remained there until it was moved to 97.7 in 2015.
News/Talk WMAY-FM will move in reverse to 97.7. The station re-added its simulcast on 970 WMAY last month as part of the company’s first round of programming changes which saw the elimination of Classic Hits “102.5 The Lake” on 970 WMAY/102.5 W273DR and the flip of Hot AC “99.7 The Mix” WXAJ Hillsboro to Classic Hits “99.7 CVS” WCVS-FM.
With the move of WMAY-FM to 97.7 will come a new programming lineup. “AM Springfield” with Sam Madonia and Greg Halbleib will move from 1450 WFMB/92.3 W222CG to WMAY/WMAY-FM remaining in its 6-9am timeslot. Current morning host Patrick Pfingsten will move to afternoons from 3-6pm for “PM Springfield”. WMAY will also add the “Agri-Business Hour with Steve Bridge” from 2-3pm replacing its current 12pm airing on WFMB/W222CG. Dana Loesch and Erick Erickson’s syndicated shows leaving the lineup.
With the non-sports shows moving off of “SportsRadio 92.3” WFMB/W222CG, the company says that it will be dedicated to all-sports for the first time. That will include the launch of a new morning show, ““The Morning Huddle with Darin Pritchett” from 6-9am.
