After the resignations of Geoffrey Starks and Nathan Simington left the FCC with not enough commissioners for a quorum, the Senate today voted to approve the nomination of Olivia Trusty to fill the remainder of the term held by former FCC Chair Jessica Rosenworcel.
Trusty was confirmed by a 53 to 45 vote mostly along party lines giving the Republicans two of the three currently held seats on the FCC. Nominated to the seat in January, Trusty is currently a staffer for Mississippi Senator Roger Wicker and policy director on the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation.
