iHeartMedia Sports “Rip City Radio” 620 KPOJ Portland has announced it will add Fox Sports Radio’s “The Herd with Colin Cowherd” to its lineup starting Tuesday, July 22.
Cowherd’s show moves from Audacy’s “1080 The Fan” KFXX after an over 25 year association with that station. Cowherd’s association with Portland began in 1996 when he joined KGW-TV as a sportscaster and joined KFXX in 1998 as afternoon host before moving to mornings in 2001. His show would join ESPN Radio’s national lineup in 2003 and then moved to Fox Sports Radio in 2015 with it remaining on his former home station continuously. The launch is timed with KFXX’s expected move to FM.
Fox Sports Radio says that KPOJ becomes The Herd’s 400th affiliate. Cowherd commented, “I couldn’t be more excited about the move! The Northwest has always held a special place in my heart! I was so fired up when I got the call from iHeart and am extremely honored that of all the cities, Portland’s KPOJ is my 400th affiliate.”
iHeartMedia Seattle SVP/Programming and KPOJ Program Director Rich Moore said, “We couldn’t be happier to bring a national and local icon to our team. Colin brings a powerful voice and exceptional show, which is a mainstay in the Portland market.”
The Herd replaces Infinity Sports Radio’s Rich Eisen Show in the 9am-12pm timeslot on KPOJ.
