Vince Benedetto’s Bold Gold Media Group is growing its holdings in New York’s Catskills with the acquisition of 1270 WDLA and 92.1 WDLA-FM Walton NY from Townsquare Media.
Townsquare took both stations silent at the end of 2024 for what the company stated were “economic reasons”. 1270 WDLA previously was part of a News/Talk “CNY News” trimulcast, while 92.1 WDLA-FM had been Country “Big Cat 92.1” simulcasting 95.3 WBKT Norwich.
Bold Gold will pay $50,000 to add the stations to its holdings that include stations in adjacent Sullivan County NY and Wayne and Pike Counties PA along with stations in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre market. Only the company’s Country “Thunder” 104.5 WHNB Hancock NY simulcasting 102.1 WDNB Jeffersonville has overlap with the duo.
Benedetto said, “We have a deep love and connection to the Catskill Mountains and Delaware County and we are very much looking forward to bringing our programming to the wonderful community of Walton. For a long time, we have had the privilege serving the neighboring town of Hancock, and very much look forward to extending our local programming to include even more of the residents of Delaware County.”
Bold Gold New York General Manager Dawn Ciorciari added, “We’re excited to expand into Walton and have the opportunity to provide another community with our unique brand of locally focused radio. We look forward to serving Walton and Delaware County with the same local programming and community connection that Bold Gold is known for.”
