SummitMedia’s “Classic Country 1070” KFTI Wichita KS has been off the air since January 16 following significant damage to its transmission facilities.
A filing with the FCC states that KFTI’s tower array was damaged because of theft of copper components, compromising the ground system and related infrastructure, while its transmitter experienced substantial equipment failures and requires extensive repairs and replacement of multiple components before operation can be restored.
KFTI, which utilizes Westwood One’s 24/7 Country programming, continues to stream online. The station registered a 0.9 share in the November 2025 Nielsen Audio ratings.
INSTANT INSIGHT: Nowhere on the station’s website does KFTI explain to listeners that it is off the air. It also has no social media platform where to inform listeners of how to find them as once again radio attempts to just push its audience away.
