Amidst unconfirmed reports of cuts at other Audacy markets, the “Married Morning Show” of Nick Steele and Kristen Flowers have exited Country “99.5 The Wolf” KWJJ-FM Portland after six years at the station.
Nick & Kristen joined KWJJ in January 2020 after three years in morning at Bonneville AC 96.5 KOIT San Francisco. The couple have also worked together at Country “101.9 The Wolf” KNTY Sacramento and CHR “100.7 Mix-FM” WMGI Terre Haute. Nick Steele previously worked at KLUC Las Vegas, KLJT Tyler TX, and WCLI Dayton OH, while Kristin worked in News/Talk at KXNT Las Vegas and KTRH Houston.
The duo released a statement that they “feel honored to be part of the Portland community and be embraced by their listeners.” They mentioned that during the course of their time at KWJJ, the two became known for their Nick and Kristen Medical Debt Payoff. In partnership with the charity Undue Medical Debt, the two raised enough money to pay off over $18 million in medical debt. A feat that has earned them the Tom Rivers Humanitarian Award, which they will accept later this month at CRS. The couple also created the Nick and Kristen Name Campaign, which highlighted local businesses and provided them with free social media videos produced by the morning show to promote their businesses.
Nick and Kristen can be reached at NKMornings@gmail.com and will be available for meetings at CRS where Nick will host the AI workshop, and Kristen will be a panelist at On Air, Under Pressure: Dealing with Breaking News.
