After stunting with a loop of Katy Perry’s “Roar” since the middle of December, for what their GM says was 18,720 spins in a row, Pittman Broadcasting Services has flipped 98.9 WUUU Franklinton, LA to CHR “Triple U 98.9“.
The station serves the North Shore of Lake Pontchartrain including Covington and Hammond. Before going dark to complete its signal upgrade to 25kW at 100 meters and returning with the loop of Katy Perry, the station had operated as Country “Cat Country 98.9“. The stunt gained media attention in the adjacent New Orleans market.
Pittman Broadcasting Services has signed on Top 40/M Triple U 98.9 in Covington Louisiana. The station is the first of two that the company will operate on the Northshore of New Orleans. Triple U 98.9 has been assigned the call letters WUUU and will play Modern Hit Music featuring artists like Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake, & Lady Gaga. Triple U 98.9 management said “We’re excited about launching this new station for the Northshore and the music will be all about you, the listener.”
Pittman will launch its second station on the Northshore at 1100 AM in the next few months. The format has not yet been decided for that station.
Headed by radio veteran Dr Marcus L Pittman III, Pittman Broadcasting Services has owned radio stations since 1998.
