Connoisseur Media Classic Hits “B103” 103.1 WBZO Bay Shore, NY is relaunching on Monday, April 7.
B103 will shift to a more Rock based playlist with new positioning of “Long Island’s Classic Hits of the 70’s, 80’s and More!” The move comes with a changes to their airstaff as morning co-host Frank Brinka and afternoon host Keith Allen have exited the station. Midday host Jim O’Brien will move to mornings, while Program Director/Morning Host The Wiseman moves to afternoons. Jen Wylde joins the station for middays.
WBZO ranked tenth in the Nassau/Suffolk market with a 3.4 share in the February 2014 Nielsen Audio PPM’s. Half of WBZO’s signal includes overlap with 101.1 WCBS-FM New York which had a 4.3 share on Long Island in the same monthly.
To announce the changes WBZO sent the following letter to its marketing list:
Over the last couple of months we’ve been asking what you want from B-103.
And…we’ve listened. We’ve listened to what music you want to hear, and how you want it delivered.
So starting this coming Monday, April 7, you’re going to hear an even BETTER B-103, as we become Long Island’s Classic Hits of the 70’s, 80’s and More!
We’ll be playing the greatest classic hit music you told us you want to hear! From artists like Billy Joel, The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Steve Miller Band, and The Police. And even more classic hits from the 70’s and 80’s like Queen, Journey, Tom Petty, CCR, and Boston!
As for me…I’ll be getting to sleep-in for the first time in 10 years, and will be moving to afternoons to help you get through the drive home. Jim O’Brien will now be setting his alarm clock a little earlier, and moving to mornings. We’ll introduce you to Jen Wylde, our new workday personality who will be keeping you going at work with your favorite Classic Hits of the 70’s, 80’s, and More!
We are still going to give you the critical, local information you’ve told us you need, like accurate Long Island traffic and weather reports. Plus, more great music that you grew up with, that you haven’t heard in a long time.
I’m excited…for you. And, I’m excited for all of us here at B-103. We asked and you told us. So get ready…for an even better B-103…Classic Hits of the 70’s, 80’s and More! I can’t wait.
