[membership level="2,3"] After Entercom launched their new " Alt " stations in New York and Dallas on Friday, eyes are now moving to Detroit for the next potential battleground between it and iHeartMedia for dominance in the format. Bell Media's " 89X " 88.7 CIMX Windsor ON has mostly served as the de-facto Alternative outlet in Detroit since its launch in 1991, however that station closed its Detroit sales office in March along with much of its airstaff. Program Director 'Phat' Matt Franklin joined those departing last week following 25 years at that station and sister AAA " 93.9 The River " CIDR-FM. While rumors have arisen that Entercom could flip CHR " 98.7 Amp Radio " WDZH, iHeartMedia has made the first potential move by registering Alt1067.com for Variety Hits " 106.7 The D " WDTW-FM as well as potential social media accounts for the station. WDTW-FM had segued from Rock to Variety Hits over Memorial Day Weekend . Since then the station has dropped from the 2.7 share it held in the April 2017 Nielsen Audio ratings to a 2.2 share in October which placed it nineteenth in the market. [/membership]
