FCC Applications 4/22

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
April 22, 2013

FCC Update Translator Construction Permit ApplicationsWomen’s World Broadcasting has filed a pair of applications to increase its profile in Atlanta following its recent purchase of 107.1 W296BB Jonesboro, GA from Life Radio Ministries for $15,000. The translator has applied to move into Atlanta proper where it would operate with a directional 250 watts. The translator will cover the southern half of Atlanta while rebroadcasting Cox’ 98.5 WSB-HD3.

The second application will increase Women’s World’s Country “South 107” WTSH Aragon. The application to move to a new tower site will put the station’s 60dBu contour directly over the portions of Atlanta that W296BB will not cover. The app will see the station continue to operate at 100kW with a height increase from 158 to 287 meters.

Entercom’s 96.3 K242CC Austin has applied to increase its coverage. The translator seeks to jump from 100 watts to 250 at 364 meters.

Educational Media Foundation’s 102.7 K274AR Gresham, OR has applied to increase its coverage in Portland. The 10 watt translator applied to upgrade to 250 watts pointed right towards downtown Portland. The translator will switch from rebroadcasting EMF’s 90.3 KZRI Welches, OR to an HD subchannel of Clear Channel’s 106.7 KLTH.

EMF’s 93.3 W227BF Shoreview, MN has completed its move to the IDS Center in downtown Minneapolis. The translator is airing EMF’s “K-Love” Christian CHR format via Clear Channel’s 100.3 KFXN-HD3.

Clear Channel has acquired 98.1 K251AU Albuquerque from Maria Candelaria for $170,000. Concurrently the translator has applied to increase from 10 to 165 watts. It will rebroadcast an HD subchannel of 107.9 KBQI.

Entercom and Glory Communications have filed contingent applications for a pair of stations. Entercom’s 98.9 WSPA-FM Spartanburg, SC filed to change its allotment coordinates to remove short-spacing with Glory’s 98.7 WLCZ Lincolnton, GA. Glory has concurrently filed to boost WLCZ from Class A to C3 where it would move closer to Augusta, GA with 25kW at 76.1 meters.

Chesapeake-Portsmouth Broadcasting has acquired 102.1 W271AP Jacksonville from Reach Communications for $200,000. The translator, which currently has an application to relocate to 102.3 with 240 watts is currently licensed to rebroadcast Queen of Peace Radio’s 1600 WZNZ. Chesapeake-Portsmouth owns Conservative Talk 600 WBOB in the Jacksonville market. WBOB currently is licensed to be translated on FM via 100.3 W262AG Orange Park and 107.7 W299BL Jacksonville. Those two translators are owned by Delmarva Educational Association, which has common ownership to Chesapeake-Portsmouth and Salem Communications.
