Mighty Media Group has launched Variety Hits “97.7 GuessFM” in Memphis.
Being fed by translator 97.7 W249BN Memphis, programming is being fed by 1430 WOWW. The station and translator signed-on last December by owner Flinn Broadcasting as “Memphis Kissin Country” but quickly shifted to a simulcast of Mighty Media’s “95.3 The Rebel” WEBL.
The new format is being billed as “a non-stop marathon of all kinds of pop, rock and soul hits from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s and Today!”. The station is running jockless and commercial free. It’s launch is being overseen by consultant Joel Folger.
The 97.7 translator serves the eastern side of the Memphis market with its 250 watt signal coming from Bartlett. Despite what is stated in the press release and on other sites, the station is rebroadcasting 1430 WOWW and not 830 WUMY as confirmed to us by station GM Diana Smith. WUMY continues as the originating signal for sister Classic Country “Y105.5” W288BJ.

97.7 Guess FM, the newest radio station in Memphis, signed on early today featuring a non-stop marathon of all kinds of pop, rock and soul hits. The “Guess What’s Next??” format has something for almost everyone and is unique to Memphis. Similar stations have become among the most-listened-to stations in many markets across the country. For listeners in outlying areas, Guess FM is also being simulcast on AM 830 whose signal reaches across several states.
