KLAC Reveals Details Of Dodgers Partnership

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
March 16, 2015

AM 570 LA Sports Fox Los Angeles KLAC DodgersiHeartMedia Sports “AM 570” KLAC Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Dodgers have revealed the details of their partnership with the Los Angeles Dodgers announced last fall.

The station will rebrand as “AM 570 LA Sports” with a new logo. KLAC also adds a new local show “LA Today” with Bill Reiter and Leann Tweeden from 9am to 12pm daily. Dodger Talk with David Vassegh and Kevin Kennedy will air following all Dodgers games or at 7pm on days the Dodgers do not play including the offseason. The remainder of the lineup remains the same with Fox Sports Radio’s Dan Patrick from 6-9am and Jay Mohr from 12-3pm and Petros & Money in afternoons from 3-7pm.

iHeartMedia Los Angeles and the Dodgers announced today the debut of the all-new AM 570 LA Sports, effective immediately. The new baseball season will bring a new name, a new look, a re-brand, a re-launch and a new co-ownership with the Dodgers to the station formerly known as KLAC.

AM 570 LA Sports will be under the co-ownership of iHeartMedia Los Angeles and the Dodgers. The station will have a new logo (featured above) and will also incorporate the new 2015 Dodgers slogan “We Love LA!” An extensive outdoor and mobile campaign will launch throughout the Southland, featuring the new AM 570 LA Sports logo with Vin Scully, Clayton Kershaw and Yasiel Puig. In addition, custom branded promos will also be heard across all eight iHeartMedia Los Angeles’ radio stations. AM 570 LA Sports will begin the day with Dan Patrick from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. followed by the newly created LA Today with Bill Reiter and Leann Tweeden from 9 a.m. to noon. Jay Mohr will fill the noon to 3 p.m. slot and the Marconi nominated and popular Petros and Money Show will be on from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Another new addition, Dodger Talk featuring David Vassegh and Kevin Kennedy will now air immediately following Dodgers baseball games or at 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. The show will air year round starting with Spring Training and throughout the regular season to keep Dodger fans on top of the day’s Dodger news and activities. Plus, to get the excitement rolling during Spring Training, AM 570 LA Sports listeners can get into the celebration as the station will be giving away Opening Day tickets every day leading up to the sold-out April 6, home opener against the San Diego Padres.

iHeartMedia Los Angeles Market President, Greg Ashlock states “This relationship with iHeartMedia and the Dodgers is made in Blue Heaven. We’re excited about the synergistic opportunities between our music, sports and entertainment properties. The Dodgers, with their current leadership and commitment to the fans and community, represent everything that you’d want in a partner.”

Stan Kasten, president and CEO of the Dodgers said, “We are thrilled to partner with AM 570 LA Sports. We’ve had a wonderful relationship over the years and our new partnership will make it even stronger as we work together to bring Dodger fans the finest in LA Sports radio programming.”

iHeartMedia Senior Vice President of Sports Programming Don Martin adds, “The new logo and local programming additions represent our commitment and dedication to the L.A. and Southern California sports fan. AM570 LA Sports is powered by Dodgers Baseball with Vin Scully, Charley Steiner, and Rick Monday and features L.A.’s premier sportstalk lineup.”

How many rebrandings has KLAC gone through since assuming the intellectual property of XETRA/690 ten years ago? I lost count.
