Update 6/22/10: The frequency swap we reported a month ago will take place on Friday, June 25. Modern Rock KFTE will become “105.1 The Planet”, while News/Talk KPEL moves to 96.5.
Original Report 5/22/10: It’s not quite Austin, TX but a number of change have or will be taking place in Lafayette, LA this month:
Pitman Broadcasting’s Hot AC “106.3 The Monkey” KYMK flipped to a simulcast of Urban AC “Z105.9” KFXZ-FM while Pitman’s Talk 1520 KFXZ flipped to Gospel. Delta Media signed on 103.7 KLWB as Classic Hits “Snap 103.7“.
Townsquare Media (formerly Regent Broadcasting) will soon swap the frequencies of Modern Rock “Planet 96.5” KFTE and Talk “NewsRadio 105.1” KPEL. Planet1051.com and KPEL965.com were registered on May 17. The swap will put the Talk format on a stronger frequency closer to the heart of Lafayette in addition to reaching more of the outlying areas.
