Townsquare Media is adding one station and selling one in Tuscaloosa AL.
Townsquare will acquire Urban “105.1 Jamz” WALJ Northport AL from Apex Media for an undisclosed amount. Since it launched in 2011, WALJ had been operated via LMA by first Cox Media Group and later SummitMedia when that company purchased Cox’ Birmingham cluster. Telegraphing this sale in our 4/26 Domain Insight, it appears that Townsquare will retain the current format but rebrand it as “105.1 The Block“.
Townsquare will concurrently sell Sports “Tide 102.9” WTID Marion to Educational Media Foundation for $110,000. The current Sports format will remain with Townsquare Media and move to current simulcaster 100.9 W256CG/WTUG-HD2 Tuscaloosa as “Tide 100.9“.
