After a month of Christmas music, Sunrise Broadcasting’s 100.5 WAVL Rothschild/Wausau WI has officially debuted it new identity as AC “Wave 100.5“.
WAVL is positioning as “The Best Mix of the 80s, 90s and Today” with longtime Wausau personality Craig Collins anchoring mornings from 6-9am.
The station was previously Sports WDTX until moving that format to the former “Cool Oldies 1230” WXCO in November.

Oldies “Cool Oldies 1230” WXCO Wausau flipped to Sports on Monday as “Sports Fan 1230” assuming the programming that is currently heard on 100.5 WAVL (formerly WDTX) Rothschild. Northpine notes that this is WXCO’s third run with ESPN Radio programming with the station previously airing the network through the 2000s and riefly in 2015.
100.5 WAVL will make the move to Christmas music this week prior to debuting a new permanent format on December 26. While not indicating what the format will be, the station has given away its potential new branding as its Facebook Page is titled “Wave 100.5“.
