iHeartMedia To Launch U100.9 & 1070 The Game In Madison

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
January 30, 2020

The Big 1070 The Game U100.9 WTSO MadisoniHeartMedia has announced it will break the simulcast of Sports “The Big 1070” WTSO/100.9 W265CV Madison WI this weekend and launch two new brands.

WTSO will remain Sports, but relaunch as “1070 The Game” to match the branding of sister Sports “97.3 The Game” WRNW-FM Milwaukee on Monday, February 3. With the rebranding WTSO will add WRNW-FM’s Steve Czaben Show for mornings from 6-9am, Fox Sports Radio’s Dan Patrick and Colin Cowherd in middays, while the statewide syndicated Mike Heller Show based at WTSO will move to afternoons from 3-6pm.

Meanwhile 100.9 W265CV and 101.5 WIBA-HD2 will debut Oldies “U100.9“. Positioned as “Madison’s Super 60s and 70s Station”, the new format will launch on Saturday, February 1. The new format will flank iHeartMedia’s Variety Hits “Rewind 92.1” WXXM against Entercom’s market leading Classic Hits 94.9 WOLX.

iHeartMedia Madison announced today the debut of the new U-100.9, Madison’s Super ‘60s and ‘70s Station, beginning February 1.

U-100.9 will broadcast popular music from the 1960s and ‘70s including top songs from artists such as The Beatles, The Supremes, The Rolling Stones, Three Dog Night, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin and more. The station will also feature fun and different musical themes each weekend including one hit wonders for its “Super 60s and 70s Weekend” segment.

“I’m extremely excited to be part of this new station launch,” said Drew Lauter, Market President for iHeartMedia Madison. “Madison missed having a station that is dedicated to airing top ‘60s and ‘70s music – so we’re excited to step up and give listeners what they want with the new U-100.9.”

iHeartMedia Madison announced today the debut of the new 1070 THE GAME, Madison’s Sports Talk That Rocks, effective February 3.

1070 THE GAME will broadcast the latest local sports news and headlines as well as feature shows from top on-air personalities including Steve Czaban, who will lead the program line up from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., and Mike Heller, who can be heard on afternoon drive from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Czaban has worked for several major syndicated sports talk networks including Sporting News, ESPN Radio and Fox Sports Radio in his 18-year career as well as in various markets such as Santa Barbara, California; Chicago; Milwaukee; Charlotte; and Washington, D.C. He is a loyal fan of the Green Bay Packers, which he calls “The Chosen Ones” of the NFL. In his free time, Czaban is an avid golfer.

A fixture in Wisconsin Sports media for more than 30 years, Mike Heller will join 1070 The Game program lineup. One of the original “daily” sports radio hosts on WTSO, Heller has been heard on afternoon-drive for almost two decades and has won numerous Wisconsin Broadcasters Association Awards (WBA) including “Best Show.”  Heller has also been featured nationally since 2012 as a regular guest host on “The Dan Patrick Show” and “The Rich Eisen Show.”

“Wisconsin has a strong and diverse sports fan base,” said Drew Lautner, Market President for iHeartMedia Madison. “We believe we have assembled the best of the best to deliver news, commentary, differing opinions, on-field insight and an occasional laugh to our loyal listeners.”

Full Weekday Program Lineup:
Steve Czaban Show 6 a.m. – 9 a.m.
Dan Patrick Show 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Colin Cowherd 12 p.m. – 3 p.m.
Mike Heller Show 3 p.m. – 6 p.m.
