Jessica Cash has announced she will be retiring as morning co-host at Alpha Media Country 93.3 WFLS Fredericksburg VA on Friday, August 21.
Cash has spent fourteen years in mornings at the station alongside Steve Waters. She previously co-hosted mornings at WMZQ and WBIG-FM Washington DC and WAVF Charleston SC and has held other on-air positions at WCXR Washington, WRKI Danbury CT, KHOW Denver, WZZQ Terre Haute, KRNA Iowa City, and KKRL Carroll IA.
“Fourteen years is a long time for someone in our profession to be in one place. I’ve had the good fortune to do that, to hopefully get your day started with a smile. But, now it’s time for me to make a change in my life.” said Jessica Cash during her last week as co-host on Alpha Media Fredericksburg WFLS Morning Show. Jessica is retiring on August 21st after a rewarding career in broadcasting.
“August 21st will be my last day on WFLS,” she said. “My last day to say good morning to our friends, no, our family. We wake up together every morning and you’ve made my experiences in Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, Stafford, King George, Caroline, and Orange Counties ones that I will never forget. To see all of you at the Celebrate Virginia concerts, to the Bowling Green Fall Festival, to Riverfest, you became part of my life. I want to thank you for your friendship, your loyalty, and your love for these 14 years. I know I’ll miss you.” said Cash.
Jessica and her Morning partner, Steve Waters, teamed up to net many awards during her time in Fredericksburg, the most recent being the CMA Small Market Morning Show in 2018 and the ACM Small Market Personality in 2019.
Jessica said, “I’ll miss my radio partner, Steve Waters who became a good friend, not just a coworker and I’ll miss the team here at the radio station.”
Market manager Jeff Boden said, “Someone with Jessica’s talents is a rare find and we are very lucky to have had her as a central part of our family for so long.”
“Creative, dedicated, focused, and connected is what Jessica is,” said Bill West, content/operations manager. “We will miss the light that she brings each morning to our station!”
Jessica plans? “That’s easy. I’ll find a beach to refresh my soul. I’ll watch a sunrise not because I am doing the morning show, but because I can soak it in. And when I’m not watching the sunrise, I’ll be sleeping in!”
Alpha Media Fredericksburg is starting an active search for her position at WFLS.
