WMIA Flips To Bilingual AC Magic 93.9

Magic 93.9 MIA WMIA Miami Beach El GatoiHeartMedia has flipped Hot AC “93.9 MIA” WMIA-FM Miami Beach FL to “Magic 93.9” with a mix of Spanish and English pop from the 80s and 90s with Spanish language personalities.

The flip took place at noon today launching with Gloria Estefan & Miami Sound Machine’s “Conga” and Bryan Adams “(Everything I Do) I Do It For You”. The station is positioning as “Tus Favoritas de Siempre” with core artists listed as Whitney Houston, Marc Anthony, Madonna, Lionel Richie, Shakira, Michael Jackson, and Celine Dion. The station is launching with the usual 10,000 songs in a row commercial free.

The station will feature Humberto ‘El Gato’ Rodríguez in mornings from 6-10am. He previously has worked in the market as morning host at 94.9 WZTA and 95.7 WRMA. Ailyn Luaces will host middays from 10am to 3pm followed by Tony Vargas from 3-7pm. Santiago Duarte will host nights from 7pm to 12am and Sarykarmen in overnights.

WMIA-FM registered a 2.1 share in the October 2023 Nielsen Audio ratings ranking 20th overall in the market.

iHeartMedia Miami announced today the debut of the new Magic 93.9, Tus Favoritas de Siempre, effective immediately.

The innovative Magic 93.9 brings a unique blend of content to listeners, as the station will broadcast a fusion of English-language music from the ‘80s and ‘90s anchored by engaging Spanish-language on air personalities including El Gato, Ailyn Luaces, Tony Vargas and Santiago Duarte. It’s a blend that caters to a wide spectrum of listeners in the Miami area, and will feature a variety of hits from Whitney Houston, Marc Anthony, Madonna, Lionel Richie, Shakira, Michael Jackson, Celine Dion and more.

“In Miami, the music of the ‘80s and ‘90s played a significant role in shaping the cultural landscape,” said Enrique Santos, President, iHeartLatino. “The diverse population, including a large Spanish-speaking community, embraced the vibrant sounds of that time. The new Magic 93.9 will be a unifying sound aiming to provide a listening experience you just can’t find anywhere else in the United States.”
