Cumulus Media has appointed former iHeartMedia Salt Lake City SVP/Programming Jeff McCartney as its new Operations Manager for the market.
McCartney will also program CHR “Power 94.9/101.9” KENZ Provo/KHTB Ogden and Rock 101.1 KBER Ogden. McCartney programmed CHR “97.1 ZHT” KZHT during his entire run at iHeart Salt Lake City from 1998 to 2024 and at times also ran Classic Hits 94.1 KODJ and AC “My 99.5” KJMY. He rose to SVP/Programming for the cluster from June 2021 until his exit in August 2024. Before heading to Salt Lake, he was Music Director of WKCI New Haven CT and Promotions Director of WKRZ/WGGY Scranton PA.
He commented, “Utah has been my home for nearly three decades, and I’m excited to join the Cumulus Salt Lake team for this exciting new chapter. Joyce and I have worked together for more than 20 years, and we share a deep understanding of this market, its listeners, and the relationships that drive meaningful results for both our audiences and our clients. I’m grateful for the opportunity to help lead what’s next.”
Cumulus Salt Lakes City VP/Market Manager Joyce Wirthlin, who also worked with McCartney at iHeart, stated, “We’re thrilled to welcome Jeff to the team. He’s a proven programmer with a strong track record of building winning brands and developing talent. His passion for the product and his competitive mindset makes him a great fit for KBER and KENZ, and we’re excited to have him leading these stations forward.”
McCartney fills the programming opening created by last year’s departure of Rick Vaughn to fill McCartney’s former position at iHeartMedia.
