Total Media Group has flipped 970 WATH/97.3 W247DR Athens OH to Oldies.

The flip marks the third format change for the station in as many years first going from Classic Hits to AC “Mix 97.3” in October 2023 and then to Sports “The Game” in January 2025. The station will continue to serve as home of Athens High School, Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals, and Ohio State University sports.

The new format launched on Friday, July 10 at 3pm utilizing the “Gold” network programming from Seaboard Networks. Total Media Central Region Director of Programming JJ Hale said, “This project was especially meaningful to me because I grew up listening to Athens’ heritage station, 970 WATH. Over the years, the station went through several format changes, and it was always my hope to bring back the oldies sound and restore the heritage feel that made WATH such an important part of the community.
