Riverfront Broadcasting is expanding its holdings in Rapid City SD with the purchase of “Fox Sports 1150/106.7” KIMM/K294BT Rapid City from Nate Brown’s Black Hills Broadcasting.
Terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed, but Riverfront has already begun operating the station via LMA ahead of closing. Brown, who has owned the station since 2018, will continue to host his afternoon show on the station. The deal will include the launch of the “Riverfront Sports Network” with content airing on KIMM, News/Talk 1380 KOTA/100.7 K264CP, and Oldies 980 KDSJ/103.5 K278AM Spearfish.
The Riverfront Sports Network will include audio and video coverage of local high school sports, local and regional collegiate sports, athlete profiles and feature programming, The Nate Brown Show, Coaches Shows, and local/regional sports talk programming across South Dakota.
Riverfront Rapid City General Manager Jim Kallas said, “The primary focus and duty of all Riverfront Broadcasting properties is to provide live, local content for our audiences. And nothing is more live or local than Rapid City and Black Hills sports teams. By combining the resources of the top 3 stations that cover sports in the area, we will be able to shine the spotlight even brighter on our area’s student athletes.”
Nate Brown added, “When I launched Fox Sports Rapid City 9 years ago, I wanted to bring western South Dakota a daily sports talk show featuring local interviews and thought-provoking topics. I’m really excited about this opportunity to join forces with Riverfront Broadcasting and enhance our sports broadcasts. Riverfront is a company that believes in covering local sports and I’m thrilled to see what we can do together.”
Riverfront Broadcasting also owns Classic Hits “Q92.3” KQRQ Rapid City, Country “Eagle Country” 95.9 KZZI Belle Fourche/96.3 K242BK Rapid City, Rock “X Rock” 101.1 KDDX Spearfish/103.7 K279DF Rapid City, and 1980s Hits “Z106.3” KZLK Rapid City in the market.
