Was driving on I-40 in 1995 listening to a Jackson, TN station. I had a friend with me who moved to this country from Nigeria and he was Black. He was taken aback when the station proclaimed in a promo, “No rap, no crap!”

Mix 95.7 in Philadelphia used that slogan in late 2001 “Today’s Best Music Without The Crap, I mean Rap”. Not just a Jackson, TN thing just bad radio.
