Update 9/4: Variety Hits “105.1 Charlie-FM” made its flip to Hot AC “Mix 105.1” at 2pm today.

Slacker & Steve, who air in afternoons on Entercom sister “Alice 105.9” KALC Denver will be syndicated in for afternoons.

Update 8/17: Just about on queue, we get the decoy domains as Entercom added registrations for ClassicRock1051.com and MadisonsNewRock1051.com following our original report. This has become a normal act for many station operators in recent years to deflect obvious changes and raise other possibilities. We still expect “Mix 105.1” to be the end result when WCHY does flip.

Original Report 8/15: Variety Hits “105.1 Charlie-FM” WCHY Waunakee/Madison WI looks to be reaching the end of its life as Entercom has registered 1051Mix.com, MadisonMix1051.com, Mix1051FM.com, Mix1051Music.com, and NewMix1051.com for the station.

WCHY registered a 2.9 share in the Spring book. The Mix name indicates a likely shift to AC or Hot AC at the station. The former would place the station in direct competition with the second ranked station in the market, Mid-West Family Broadcasting’s “Magic 98” 98.1 WMGN. Hot AC or Adult CHR would place it between WMGN and Clear Channel’s market leading CHR “Z104” WZEE.

The Mix moniker was most recently used in Madison on Clear Channel’s 92.1 WXXM from 2002 to 2004 before that station dropped Modern AC for Liberal Talk, which it remains to this day as “92.1 The Mic“.
