As part of its quarterly earnings report today, Radio One Inc. announced that as of January 1, 2017 the company will rename itself Urban One, Inc.

Each of the company’s divisions will retain their current names with the radio stations operating under the “Radio One” brand. The move follows the company’s move into broader holdings such as the the soon-to-open MGM National Harbor casino in Washington DC.

In order to better reflect the diversified media platform that we have built, effective January 2017, we will be renaming the company Urban One, Inc. Each entity will retain their current brands and names, so the radio stations will continue to roll-up under the Radio One brand, and the same applies to TV One, Interactive One and Reach Media.”
