NewsRadio 730 KINF Debuts In Boise

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
July 21, 2011

Update 7/21: 730 KINF debuted its News/Talk format at 4pm today. The station will air all-news blocks in morning and afternoon drive featuring a mix of local reports and Talk Radio Network’s “America’s Radio News Network”.

Rick Worthington has been named Program Director. Worthington previously served as news director at 780 KKOH Reno. Jay Howell is News Director. He formerly worked at WFLA Tampa, WSM Nashville, and KBOI Boise. The news blocks will be surrounded by the aforementioned Laura Ingraham, Rusty Humphries, and Phil Hendrie talk shows.

Original Report 7/17: Impact Radio Group has closed on its purchase of 730 KBSU Boise from Boise State University.

After stunting all weekend with a loop of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” the station will flip to News/Talk on Monday, July 18. New KINF call letters are in place and Impact registered NewsradioAM730.com and Newsradio730AM.com in June.

Syndicated talker Laura Ingraham already has KINF listed on her affiliate list carrying her show from 10am to 1pm. Phil Hendrie has added the station under its former KBSU calls as carrying his show from 11pm to 4am. Rusty Humphries will also be on the stations lineup.

Driving through Utah and Idaho on July 18/19 we could not resist listening to Thriller numerous times while on I-84. Figured it was a format change as I have heard this practice done before many years ago in Indiana. Now I see another format change to one more talk radio station which uses syndicated radio hosts. Local AM radio is dead.
