Intercity Broadcasting Network has officially debuted Urban AC “G98.7” CKFG Toronto.
The new station, previously billed as “CARN Radio” is promoting a music mix of R&B, Soul, Reggae, Soca, Hip Hop, Worldbeat, Gospel, and Smooth Jazz from core artists such as Aretha Franklin, Bob Marley, The Temptations, Rihanna, Kirk Franklin, Marcia Griffiths, Sparrow, Alicia Keys, K’naan, Lucky Dube, Alison Hinds, Beres Hammond, Jully Black, Gregory Isaacs, The Chi-Lites, Fela Kuti, and Drake.
The station is jockless for now but will add live personalities as well as news and talk programming in November. The station is emphasizing that it will feature local news reporting, sports coverage and analysis, and call-in shows on issues relating to and affecting the Black and Caribbean population of Greater Toronto.
Rumor now being that Flow will go Country, as that’s a good format to avoid competing with sister station 104.5 Chum FM and FLOW had low ratings anyway.
