CBS Active Rock “103.1 The Buzz” WPBZ West Palm Beach dropped its format at 3pm today and relaunched as Adult CHR “Now 103.1“.
The new format, billed as “Todays best hits, without the rap” is targeted directly at locally owned Hot AC 97.9 WRMF and Clear Channel CHR “Wild 95.5” WLDI. The station is already taking potshots at both on the air.
The previous “Buzz” format has shifted to 103.1 HD2 although the entire airstaff seems to be out with the shift. In the most recent PPM monthlies that were just released, WPBZ jumped from 2.3 to 2.8 while WRMF and WLDI combined for over a 10 share. WRMF is currently second in the market overall, but is neck and neck with CBS’ “Sunny 104.3” WEAT.
