Resonate Hawaii will launch “The Wave @ 92FM” on Monday, October 15 at 5:00pm.
The new format will be heard on what was “KONA-FM” 92.1 KHWI Holualoa which covers the western side of the Hawaiian Big Island and 92.7 KHBC Hilo which serves the east side beginning on October 22. Both stations had been running unique AC formats before going dark as the stations were sold out of bankruptcy from Chaparral Broadcasting to Resonate Hawaii. Resonate acquired the two stations and 1060 KIPA Hilo for $500,000 in May.

On Monday, October 15th at 5:00PM, HST, Hawaii Island listeners will be introduced to RESONATE HAWAII’s newest radio station, The Wave @ 92FM. Featuring “Today’s Fresh Mix” of top hits, The Wave @ 92FM will combine the power of its on-air position with myriad online applications creating a full 360 degree audio and visual experience for Adults 18-44.
Available on-air at 92.1 Kona and 92.7 Hilo** and online at http://www.hawaiiswave.com, The Wave @ 92 FM will debut with the broadcast of 9,200 songs in a row from artists such as Katy Perry, Maroon 5, Rihanna, Daughtry, Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, Train, Beyonce, Matchbox 20, Usher, Bruno Mars, and Adele along with many others.
Complementing the station will be an array of events and concerts, an extensive online destination with local events, blogs, music videos, photo galleries, celebrity gossip reports, embeddable and multi-functional streaming player. Fans of the station can also stay connected through instant messaging, Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, and other social networking sites, as well as wirelessly via texting.

I’ve been trying to tune in to this new station from Hilo but there is only empty air?? Used to hear the sound of ocean waves prior to the date they were to come on-air but now, nothing…
