Saul Levine’s Mount Wilson FM Broadcasters continues it shakeup at its Monterey cluster.
In the past month Mount Wilson has flipped 97.9 KYZZ from Classical to Country, dropped a short-lived Jazz format on 1240 KNRY/106.7 K294CA for a simulcast of Classical 95.9 KMZT-FM/95.1 K236BK, and announced the acquisition of 103.9 KBOQ.
With 106.7 and 95.1 giving redundant coverage of Monterey, K294CA will flip to Alternative “Alt 106.7” on Monday, June 9. The station is currently stunting with a loop of 25 songs the new format will feature. Mount Wilson GSM Kane Biscaya told Monterey County Weekly, “We felt there was a big hole in the alternative rock market. There’s no station really hitting the college, high school and even young adult markets right now and there’s huge demand.”
The 250 watt at 175.5 meter signal of K294CA puts a city-grade signal throughout Monterey, Seaside, Carmel, and Salinas (Coverage Map). Its programming will originate via 97.9 KYZZ-HD2.
