Springfield’s Outlaw Moves To KTXR; Standards to KBFL-FM

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
November 3, 2015

101.3 KTXR The Outlaw Springfield 99.9 KBFL-FM Meyer CommunicationsWith “The Outlaw” completing its move from 99.9 KBFL-FM Buffalo to 101.3 KTXR Springfield yesterday, 99.9 KBFL-FM has flipped to a simulcast of Standards 1060 KBFL Springfield.

Original Report 10/22: Meyer Communications will flip AC 101.3 KTXR Springfield, MO to Southern Rock/Country “101.3 The Outlaw” on Monday, November 2.

KTXR will assume the “Outlaw” brand and format from sister 99.9 KBFL-FM Buffalo, which had picked it up in March. The 100kW KTXR had featured a Soft AC/Easy Listening format for much of its history before evolving to Mainstream AC in 2012.

Meyer has yet to disclose what will go on 99.9 KBFL-FM once KTXR assumes the Outlaw programming.

Meyer Communications is proud to announce that beginning Monday, November 2, 2015, KTXR FM will become the Ozarks Genuine Red Dirt Country, 101.3 The Outlaw.

This move follows a test launch of The Outlaw in March 2015 on KBFL FM 99.9 located just north of Springfield in Buffalo, Missouri.

“The format has been a tremendous success considering the limited coverage area of the signal,” said Jeff Clinkingbeard, consultant for Meyer Communications. “People in the Ozarks are hard working with a great sense of rural values. Until The Outlaw, Country stations in the Ozarks were programmed in Hollywood and New York and feature Pop Country. Other stations featured Classic Oldies Country. Listeners have loved the fact that we are playing Southern Rock, Real Red Dirt Texas Country music.”

Both advertisers and listeners consistantly had the same feedback, “We love the station, but we wish it had a stronger signal.” Meyer Communications is solving that issue.

KTXR FM 101.3 The Outlaw will be transmitting at 100,000 watts and with it’s 1,400 foot tower has the largest FM coverage map in Missouri.

Meyer Communications has partnered with The Outlaw Nation to bring the format to the Ozarks. Outlaw Nation was born in the summer of 2013, in the smoky honky-tonks of Myrtle Beach, amidst the crowded tourist season. Bar owners, disgusted with the teen pop music being released as “country” today, longed for the times when the epicenter of the genre was Nashville, not Hollywood.

Outlaw Nation was tasked with creating “Southern Music for Southern People“: Traditional sounding, but current, relevant, and rockin’! REAL Country Music, sprinkled with the best of Texas Red Dirt, Bluegrass, and modern and classic Southern Rock.

In a few short months, word quickly spread. And today, Outlaw Nation is proudly carried in many of the finest country bars and western saloons in America. Southern Rock, REAL Country, in dynamic FM stereo.

And now Meyer Communications joins stations across America to bring this sound to the local airwaves in Southwest Missouri.

Meyer Communications continues to be aggressive in the market, bringing the very best programming to their station group. In just the past year they gained Laura Ingraham, the nations #1 female talk show host, for KWTO AM 560 and became the exclusive home to ESPN Radio, on KWTO FM 98.7 The Jock.
