With the announced sale of “ESPN Denver” 105.5 KJAC Timnath CO, the network will move its in-market affiliation to Bonneville’s “104.3 The Fan” KKFN Longmont and 1600 KEPN Lakewood.
The ESPN programming will be heard in full on 1600 KEPN, which as you can tell by the call letters is a return to the network’s prior affiliate in the market where it was heard from 2007-2009. “1600 The Zone” as it is currently known right now airs a mix of of programming from Yahoo!, CBS, Fox and NBC Sports Radio networks including Yahoo’s Steve Czaban, Fox’s Dan Patrick and Steve Gorman, and CBS’s Jim Rome.
The ESPN programming will also replace Fox and NBC Sports programming in overnights and weekends on KKFN. The Denver stations will join Bonneville’s sports station in Phoenix and Seattle in ESPN affiliations.
KKFN/KEPN will also have a new Program Director as Armen Williams was hired to fill the vacancy created by the departure of Nate Lundy. Williams joins the Denver pair from Townsquare Media’s “104.5 The Team” WTMM-FM Albany NY where he served as PD/Afternoon Host.
