Singing River Media Group is headed by James Michael Self, who is the son of former WLAY Owner/President D. Mitchell Self.
The elder Self sold WLAY/WLAY-FM in 1997. Now James Michael Self will own 33.3% of the new company with Dr. Parker Griffith and Dr. Thomas Griffith’s G&G LLC owning the other 66.6% of Singing River Media Group. The company will pay $1.275 million for the stations.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The stations involved in the deal are Urban “Power 94.9” WMSR-FM Collinwood TN, Country 100.1 WLAY-FM Littleville AL, Urban AC “V101.5” WMXV St. Joseph TN, Rock “105.5 The Big Dog” WVNA-FM Muscle Shoals, Urban Oldies 1450 WLAY/92.3 W222AV Muscle Shoals, and News/Talk 1590 WVNA Tuscumbia/96.7 W244EF Florence.
Media Services Group served as the broker for the transaction. URBan Radio Broadcasting retains their clusters in Columbus MS and Toledo OH.
