LHTC Media flipped Country “98.3 Blake-FM” 1490 WBKE Fairmont/98.3 W252EF Morgantown WV to Classic Hits “Buzz 98.3” on June 25.
The new format is utilizing programming from Tom Kent’s 24/7 Fun network. WBKE will continue to serve as the flagship for West Virginia Black Bears minor league baseball, East Fairmont high school sports, and as the local affiliate for Pittsburgh Penguins hockey. Morgantown did not have a direct Classic Hits station prior to the flip West Virginia Radio Corporation’s “Sky 106.5” WWLW held a 5.1 share of the market in the Fall 2018 Nielsen Audio ratings despite a sales and marketing focus on Clarksburg
The previous format had debuted in August 2018 making WBKE the third current based Country station in the market at the time.
