Michael and Casey Davis will assume operations of Southern Gospel 1380 WMTA/107.3 W297CC Central City/Morehead KY and flip it to Hot AC “Star 107.3” on October 1.
The Messenger-Inquirer reports that the move is a homecoming for Michael Davis who began his radio career at WMTA while in high school. Currently owned by Giving Hope 2U LLC, the station was recently offered via auction but the sale has yet to be filed with the FCC.
Michael Davis told the newspaper, “We’ll be playing all the hits from the ‘80s, ‘90s and some of today’s. Since COVID hit, it’s really brought back an emphasis on local radio. People are searching for a safe space. Local radio does that. And it’s made it easier for us to get started with the station. We want to be the voice of the community.”
Both Michael and Casey Davis are radio professionals. Recently based in Nashville, the couple operate production and VoiceOver business Custom Voice Media and have both worked at stations across Tennessee and Kentucky.
